Chlorophyll arts lab is an invitation to imagine different ways of living within our technological and ecological present. Conceived as a place for deep attention, it seeks to nurture creative practices that foreground process and research, make use of the site’s unique stillness, and engage generously with the surrounding community.
Located on the ground floor of a high-rise at Suttons Wharf in Bethnal Green, the space occupies a rare position: at the heart of a dense residential neighbourhood, yet surrounded by remarkable natural presence. Mile End’s eco-park is within view, the Regent’s Canal flows alongside, and the area hosts an astonishing variety of urban wildlife. This unusual conjunction of city life, water, parkland and quietude creates an atmosphere of unexpected tranquillity — a fertile ground for sustained artistic research, deceleration and reflection.
Chlorophyll arts lab serves as the production studio of artist and filmmaker Manu Luksch, and, as part of her extended practice, hosts collaborative artist residencies, community workshops, exhibitions and talks.
